The fact that I can’t get Vista to run with my ATI Radeon 9250 is almost legendary (or at least it is in my own little world), but it seems that the video card gods simply will not let me catch a break, and frankly I’m at the end of my rope. Part of my [...]

More Video Card woes
October 22, 2006MacBook Shutdown Problems?
October 22, 2006I’ve been hearing a lot about MacBook’s running superhot and experiencing extra jankiness. I knew this sort of thing was inevitable because Apple’s coupled a new machine design with a new processor coupled with the fact, I must admit, Apple’s been acting like it’s hired some people from Redmond. It’s for this very reason that [...]
Mac Mail Ate My Inbox…I think
October 21, 2006I don’t know what’s going on exactly. I checked my .Mac mail yesterday and I had a few items in my Inbox. I’d been playing with the idea of forwarding all my mail to .Mac since it’s IMAP and it would be easier to keep the mail on two computers with Mail.app in sync. [...]
“Old” 5G iPods get better battery life
October 20, 2006I thought my original 5G iPod was lasting longer on battery after the recent firmware upgrade–which was about the only thing the firmware upgrade seemed to do correctly. Looks like I wasn’t crazy, Apple was able to improve battery life with the firmware upgrade.

Origins of the iPod
October 20, 2006If you’re interested in the origins of the iPod and the story around it’s birth, this a great article.

Whoever said lawyers were smart?
October 17, 2006This one just fills me with anger for several reasons. It’s not because Lawyer Larry does not like the Mac. To each their own, and unless he wants to add an addendum to the Patriot Act that makes owning a Mac illegal I don’t care. What does anger me, is that he’s throwing a coveted [...]
Ever wonder why it’s called bluetooth?
October 17, 2006Here’s one for the useless knowledge file–the mysterious origin of the name bluetooth revealed. I always thought it was a strange name, even stranger than GnU and every-time I hear it I feel like I should go to the dentist.

CNet: Vista Note Ready for Primetime
October 15, 2006According to this video review from Cnet, Vista needs work–as if we didn’t already know that. My favorite quote from the review is that if someone bought a computer with Vista on it today “they’d be disappointed.”

Nevermind Y2k, here comes IE7
October 14, 2006Sounds like IE7 will come to Windows users via Windows Update on 10/18. I’ve been using the Beta for a while now, and while I think overall the browser is a major improvement, what I found odd, was that IE 7 was now acting like one of the so-called “Alternative Browsers”– some websites even ones [...]
IMDB has messed it up again
October 14, 2006Once again the IMDB has given me credit for another Sean McGrath’s work. It’s listing me as “Male Lead in Musical” in 2004’s Josh Jarman–which I haven’t even heard of or seen. However the thought of me playing a “Male Lead in Musical” is so hilarious that I won’t even correct it even though [...]
