They said Apple wouldn’t intentionally “brick”* unlocked iPhones:
They did!
Apple said they didn’t care about third party apps on the iPhone
They do because they removed them!
On the bright side, iPod Touch updates has fixed the screen problem.
Some Geniuses have taken pity and magically (and relock) “bricked” iPhones.
